A MULTIFACETED WORK OF ART
Impressive dimensions in an exceptional setting, such is the promise of the Temporary Grand Palais. Started in the summer of 2020, it will begin hosting events in 2021, during the four years of the Grand Palais's closure. Situated alongside the Military School, we strongly recommend that you to go and appreciate the architecture of this monument with its modern and audacious design.
The building is the result of several economic and social challenges. Indeed, the aim was to design a building that would fit harmoniously into the Champ de Mars landscape, while maximising its attractiveness. The Temporary Grand Palais is also part of an eco-responsible approach, since its parts will be completely dismantled at the end of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to be sent and reused all over the world. It is a successful gamble for the capital, which enjoys a new meeting point to host prestigious trade fairs and exhibitions, such as the FIAC, the Saut Hermès, or Paris Photo.
A FULLY MODULAR BUILDING
In addition to answering social and cultural issues, the Temporary Grand Palais is a real architectural challenge. It is more than 20 metres high and is designed to be fully modular, allowing it to be deployed over a total surface area of 18,000 square metres. This allows many possibilities in terms of space for organizing great events. Furthermore, its vaulted structure echoes the architecture of its neighbour, the Iron Lady.
